Christmas Water Marble 2014

Hi there! I finally have another post! This month is not going well for nail art. Every time I've sat down ready to do any type of nails they just don't turn out right. I've had all these ideas planned out for a while now but I just can't seem to make anything work out!

Today after trying out my first idea that ended up looking weird I started over and just did a water marble. I had the stuff right next to me so I just went with it :)

Sabrina's Nail Blog Christmas Water Marble Nails

I picked out classic red and green polishes that I know work great for water marble. I used a white polish as the base for the marble and got to marbling. Once I was done and did all the clean up I decided to add some sparkle! I used a red and green Christmas polish by Different Dimension called Holly Up Already. It's like the Christmas glitter of my dreams! So pretty!!!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Christmas Water Marble Nails

I'm so happy that after failing at so many ideas something cute finally happened! It took a few tries but at least this didn't turn out bad. It's also an upgrade to a Christmas water marble I did back in 2011 when I was just getting the hang of marbling. I'm happy to see some improvement in my marbling skills :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Glittering Winter Gradient

Hello!! Sorry I've been away for a bit :/ I planned to start doing some Christmas nails sooner but while hanging lights outside I accidentally broke a few nails. For the next month you may not see my thumb nail cause its sadly way too short but the nail art must go on!

While at the store the other day I saw a cashier with the prettiest nails ever! Her nails were a nice glittery blue to white gradient. They reminded me of snow for some reason and I couldn't wait to try and use polishes that I own to get the same look.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glittering Winter Gradient

I started out by dabbing two coats of  a metallic blue and metallic white polish onto my nails with a sponge. Then I sponged on a blue glitter and a white glitter. I added a little iridescent glitter to the tips. Once I was happy with everything I added my topcoat and was done!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glittering Winter Gradient

These nails were so easy to do and didn't take much time at all. I love how sparkly they turned out. I'd say that they came out looking pretty close to the nails that I saw. I just love everything about these nails! They kind of remind me of the movie Frozen in some way.

Gold Foil & Holo Nails

Hi Hi! A few days ago I used a gold polish called Bling by Orly and I love it so much that I decided to use it again today! I couldn't help it! I wanted to see what a full nail of it would look like and I wasn't disappointed. I also had something new I wanted to try out so I combined them into a quick design.

I bought a Nail Rock foil kit from Walmart a while back and still hadn't used it so today I gave it a go. The kit came with a black polish but I felt the gold foil would look nice over a deep purple. I started out by painting on two coats of a deep purple on two nails. I used three coats of my favorite gold glitter on two nails. I painted on three coats of a really pretty purple holo with gold flecks on one nail.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Gold Foil and Holo Nails
Sunlight

When the deep purple was dry  used a air of tweezers to place pieces of the thin gold foil on the nails. I smoothed them down with my finger. I used the gold glitter to add some polka dots to the purple holo nail and added topcoat to all the nails. The ending result was nice and shiny!

Luckily the sun was out so I could see how pretty the gold glitter was! I took pictures of the nails in different lighting but I couldn't catch the true sparkle that the gold nails gave off in person. I did capture the purple holo nail though! In any light the holo was visible but in the shade I could really see the little gold flecks it had.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Gold Foil and Holo Nails

I'm really happy with how this look turned out! I may actually be starting to like gold a lot more than I did before! I'm also happy with the foil kit, it was super easy to use and looks pretty cool, I'll be trying it out again in silver very soon.
Thanks for checking out this post and I hope you come back soon :)

Metallic Gradient

Hey there! Today I did a gradient using some pretty metallic polishes. I hadn't gotten around to really using them and they all looked nice together so I decided on a gradient.

I wanted to do a gradient going from the dark silver polish to the gold glitter but when I tried it out I didn't like it much. Instead I did a silver to metallic orange gradient. I still wanted to use the gold glitter so I lightly sponged some over the orange on two nails.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Metallic Gradient Nails
Sunlight

I was really happy with the end result after adding topcoat. It was just so shiny and reflective in a way. The gold glitter was a surprise in the sunlight! I knew it had some holo specks in it but when I saw it in the sunlight I fell in love! That's saying something because I usually don't even like gold polish. The photo above wouldn't even capture how beautiful it was but trust me if you can find Bling by Orly get it!

The whole look also seemed to change in different lighting. It was just really cool to see and I was lucky enough to get some pictures of it! I arranged these pictures so that you could see the whole look go from dark in the first picture to light below.

Fallographic Water Marble

Hello!! Today I have a water marble to share with you! I haven't done a water marble in a while so I just felt like doing one. I picked a creme and two holos for these nails. One of the holos is a really pretty burgundy so I picked out a creme that was a bit close in color. Then I used a dark gray holo to add a bit of darkness.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Fall Holographic Water Marble Nails

I love how the gray holo just stands out and that the burgundy holo sort of blends into the creme color. The colors care nice and dark and just feel like Fall. I love it!

Trick 'r Treat Inspired Nails

Happy Halloween!

Hello!!! I saved my best Halloween 2014 nail art idea for last! Today I have nails inspired by one of my all time favorite Halloween movies, Trick 'r Treat! It's an awesome movie that has 4 different stories happening and a cute little character named Sam connecting all the stories in a way. I just love Trick 'r Treat and am so happy that I had the time to try doing some nail art inspired by it.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Trick 'r Treat Movie Inspired Nails

When I was planning my nails out I knew I wanted to paint Sam's face and his bitten lollipop, so I did those on my index and middle nails. On the ring nail I painted another face that will show up towards the end of the movie. On the pinky and thumb I painted on some carved pumpkins that I saw around the movie that just looked cool and different from standard jack-o'-lanterns.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Trick 'r Treat Movie Inspired Nails

I'm really happy with how they turned out! I especially love the Sam nail! If you haven't seen Trick 'r Treat I'd really recommend watching it if you like horror movies. It's not too scary in my opinion but you can watch the trailer here and see for yourself.

Glittery Spider Web Nails

Hi Hi!! I have some cute Halloween themed nails to share today! Back in 2012 I did some spider nails (click to take a look!) and decided that I felt like painting some spiders today. I also thought it'd be cool to look back at some old Halloween posts and try one out again.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glittery Spider Web Nails

I only used 2 polishes for everything today! I applied a purple polish that has different sizes of magenta sparkles. I thought it'd just look nice as a base. Then I used a silver polish to paint some spider webs on two nails. On the rest of my nails I painted on a few spiders.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glittery Spider Web Nails

My spiders aren't the neatest but I really liked how it all turned out! I like that it was just 2 colors and doesn't look too plain. I think its probably because the base polish is glittery. I'm also really glad that I didn't default to my usual orange and black for this design haha!
I hope you liked these as much as I do!

Glowing Halloween Stripes

Hello!! Halloween is less than a week away! I'm so excited :)
Today I did some really simple nail art. It's really not much of a Halloween theme but I did use Halloween colors and they glow!

I wasn't really too sure of what I wanted to do but I had some glow polishes that I wanted to use, so I just started painting. I painted some black, orange, and silver stripes. I added an accent nail in a silver holographic polish. I used a non glowing polish to add some accent lines on all the nails.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glow-in-the-dark Halloween Nails

Its not much but the cool part was how it all glowed! The orange, black, and holo all glowed different colors so in the dark they looked nice. They didn't look very Halloween-ish in the dark haha!

Even though these nails weren't anything special I still hope you liked them :)

Friday the 13th Nails

Hello!! I have some fun horror movie inspired nails for you today!! I was inspired to do these nails by a Friday the 13th marathon on TV and by this instagram picture my friend, Sara, posted last week. Her nails were so cute I decided to try them out and add my own little spin on it.

I started out by painting my middle nail white and the rest of my nails black. I used some browns to lightly sponge over the white nail and give it a dirty look. My photo really didn't pick up on that detail :/ I used an online picture of Jason's mask as reference when dotting on the black holes and red marks of his mask. On the ring nail I painted on a bloody machete. For the thumb nail I used a white to paint on a 13 and once again I added blood dripping off the numbers. On the index and pinky nails I painted on even more dripping blood!

I really like how they turned out! Lots of blood lol!

Halloween Marble Nails

Hi Hi!! I have a new Halloween design to show you! I've been seeing lots of plastic bag (ziplock) marble nails around and decided to give it a try. I also used Halloween colors!

I started out by painting all my nails with a base color of black or orange. Once they dried a bit, I added a few random drops of black and orange to a nail. Then I placed a little piece of a cut up sandwich bag over the nail and lightly pressed before removing it. I worked on one nail at a time.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glowing Marble Halloween Nails

The ending result was a sort of marble look. They don't look as nice as others I've seen but I still like them. I think they look pretty cool! I only used 2 colors to do the marble but most I've seen used 3. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I'll test it out later.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glowing Marble Halloween Nails

On two of the marble nails the base was black and orange for the other two. I like that they both look different. To give the whole look something extra I added an accent nail of orange and black rhinestones. I also used an orange glow-in-the-dark polish cause why not!

1, 2 Freddy's Coming for You

Hello!! Today I'm back after a full week of feeling unmotivated to paint my nails. I guess we all need a break sometimes :/ I was just having a hard time with thinking of what Halloween nails I wanted to do but luckily I came up with something today!
I recently watched a Nightmare on Elm Street 2 on Netflix and it got me thinking about doing Freddy Krueger nails. I didn't have much of a plan when I sat down to do these nails but I did have colors in mind.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Halloween Freddy Krueger Nails

I started out by painting all my nails black. I painted Freddy's glove on my index nail, his creepy face on the middle, and his sweater stripes on the ring. For the thumb and pinky I used a glitter polish called Elm Street that I hadn't gotten around to using before and I thought what better time than now :)

I'm really happy with how they turned out considering I had no real plan. I really love the sweater stripe nail, it's my favorite!

Velvet Goth Gradient

It's already October! My favorite time of year is here and I'm so excited for all the Halloween nail art! I had planned on starting the month off with something more challenging for myself but didn't get the time for it, so today I just have a really simple gradient.

I finally bought the Velvet Goth collection by Models Own and wanted to try some colors out. I choose the black and deep green to use in a gradient. The colors just felt very fall and Halloween-y to me. I used a makeup sponge to blend the two colors together and the polishes dried to a nice, soft matte finish. I took a picture of how my nails looked without any top coat.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Models Own Velvet Goth Gradient

I wanted to add a Halloween stamp over so I picked out some creepy looking zombie hands. I had planned on stamping over all the nails but I just couldn't cover up how pretty the gradient looked on its own so I only stamped two nails as accents. I added a topcoat and it made the gradient even sparkly-er!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Models Own Velvet Goth Gradient

I'm really liking these Velvet Goth polishes. They look so nice on their own and with topcoat! I'm also happy with how this quick design turned out. It's not much of a Halloween themed design but at least it's something to start off with for the month :)

China Glaze: Boundary of Memory Chevron French Nails

Hello :) I have a gorgeous polish to show you that I recently bought at Sally Beauty Supply. It's Boundary of Memory by China Glaze. It's part of The Giver collection which is a limited edition collection. I saw the display and this polish was one of 2 glitters in the collection and it just stood out to me. It reminded me of some on the old 2 coat glitter polishes that were around a few years ago.

Boundary of Memory is such a nice polish! I wish all glitters were like this. It's a clear base with densely packed black, gold, and copper micro glitter! I only needed two coats for opaque coverage and it went on so easy. This polish has a perfect glitter formula, not too thin and runny or thick and goopy. I'm so happy I picked it up.

Sabrina's Nail Blog China Glaze Boundary of Memory Chevron French Nails

I don't usually like gold or copper but this glitter just looked so nice. I really like that the mix of colored glitters makes it look like a sparkly brown in some lights. It'll be a really pretty polish for autumn!

Sabrina's Nail Blog China Glaze Boundary of Memory Chevron French Nails

When I tried the polish on I loved it so much that I decided to do a chevron french design in black and gold. I completely forgot to get a picture of Boundary of Memory by itself! At least most of the nail is the gorgeous glitter so you can still see how great it is.
If you love a nice micro glitter with a 2 coat formula I'd really go out and find this polish, you won't be disappointed with it :)

Moon & Star Nails

Hello :) Do you ever paint your nails just to paint them and then come up with an idea out of nowhere? Well that happened to me and what I ended up painting ended up pretty cute!
I had just don't a sponge gradient going from blue to teal. I wasn't even going to post the gradient, it was just for fun and nothing too special. When I was done I took a look at my nails and they sort of reminded me of a night sky. I thought they'd look cute with a moon painted on so I thought it wouldn't hurt to try it out and a while later I ended up with these moon and stars nails!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Moon & Star Gradient Nails

I started out by painting a crescent moon on my middle nail in silver. Then I dabbed on some sliver glitter to add some sparkle to the moon. After I finished that I thought it'd be cute to paint on some stars so I used the silver to do that on two nails. When I was done with that I used the glitter polish to paint the last two nails. It all looked so pretty together that I had to post it!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Moon & Star Gradient Nails

I always find it weird when something like this happens. I just didn't want naked nails and wasn't trying to do anything creative. It just goes to show that when you least expect it creativity just happens and sometimes the end result is good!

I hope you enjoyed this post and check back soon for more!

Matte & Chrome

Hey! I have some really simple but nice looking nails for you today. I've had OPI's Push and Shove for a while now and haven't used it but today I thought of a design to try it out with. I decided to combine two of my favorite polish finishes, chrome and matte!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Chrome & Matte Nails OPI Push and Shove

I started out by painting all my nails with a deep purple matte polish. I let it dry completely before putting on chevron stickers. I used the stickers to get nice lines when I applied the silver chrome polish. I painted each nail a little different just to mix it up.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Chrome & Matte Nails OPI Push and Shove

There wasn't much else to these nails. I didn't use any kind of topcoat. I like the contrast between the matte and chrome! I think it looks really cool! I had a bit of a hard time trying to photograph these nails but you can still see the contrast.

Galaxy Nails Part 3

Hi Hi!! Back in 2012 I was really loving galaxy nails. I did 2 posts of them here and here. I felt like doing some more galaxy nails today so that's what I have to show you! I really like outer space and there are no two space pictures that look alike so I always like how different and creative doing galaxy nails can be. No matter what you do they always look cool!
I wanted to try making these galaxy nails somewhat different than my last 2 attempts. I picked out some sparkly and color shifting polishes to sponge over a black base.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Galaxy Nails

I randomly sponged different colors in different areas on each nail. I tried to give each nail a different shape while sponging the colors just so they looked a bit soft and had a flow to it. I kind of wanted the color to fade into the black background so it wasn't too much of a contrast. Once I liked how each nail looked I dabbed on some glitter. I also added a few big stars just for fun :)

Sabrina's Nail Blog Galaxy Nails

It was really hard to get nice clear pictures of these nails. All the sparkly polishes just messed with my camera I guess. These two pictures were the clearest and some of the only ones where you could actually see what was going on :/
In person these are so pretty! They sparkle and look pretty cool! I wish I could have gotten better pics :)

Glowing Neon Nails

Hello! Today I felt like using some of the Serum No. 5 neon glow polishes that I haven't used. I wasn't very sure of what I wanted to do with them so I just started paining and decided to see where I ended up. I wasn't feeling too inspired so I ended up doing something really simple using 3 polishes.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Serum No. 5 Glowing Neon Nails

I had picked out a yellow, orange, and red orange. I painted 2 colors on each nail diagonally. I liked how it looked but decided to add some dots along both sides of color. I added some smaller dots on top of those dots. The dots sort of reminded me of some type of candy I liked as a kid :)
The photo above really makes the red orange color look way too orange. It looks more color accurate in the photo below.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Serum No. 5 Glowing Neon Nails

I did like how these turned out. It was just something really easy to do and I liked all the colors together but the best part was seeing them glow! As always Serum No. 5 glow polishes never fail! The glow is so bright and long lasting. All three of the polishes I used glowed different colors so that looked even cooler in the dark!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Serum No. 5 Glowing Neon Nails

I know these nails aren't much but I still really like them for just having sat down with no plan in mind when painting my nails. I think I mainly like them because of the glow but either way they're nice :)

Corgi Nails

Hello!! Two and a half months ago my family got a puppy! It's been a bit crazy trying to do nails when there's a cute pup running around, but last night I got a chance to do these super cute nails!
We got a corgi and he's sooooo cute!! When I was thinking of what to paint on my nails I thought it'd be cute to see if I could paint his cute little face on a nail.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Corgi Nails

I decided to give it a try! I didn't really plan anything out and just went for it. I ended up painting 3 doggy faces. I used some photos of my puppy and some other corgis I found online just as guides for colors. The puppy on the middle nail is mine! I painted some paw prints on the last two nails. I really love how they turned out!

The corgi faces just make them so cute and fun to wear! The above picture is a closer look at my thumb nail. Below is a closer look at my middle and ring nails.

Neon Negative Space Nails

Hi there! I've been seeing negative space nails all over recently and I'm loving how they look! The natural nail peeking through parts of a fun design just looks so cool to me. It's something different and fun.

Today I decided to try it out myself! I used 3 of my neon glow in the dark Serum No. 5 polishes. I thought the glow would add little extra. I started out with a base coat and some straight nail stickers to make random lines on my nails. I painted one nail at a time and quickly removed the stickers before moving on to the next nail.

Sabrina's Nail Blog Glowing Neon Negative Space Nails

Since I used 3 colors I painted 3 nails one solid color. On the remaining 2 nails I sponged on a gradient of all 3 colors. Once everything was dry I added two layers of topcoat.

These nails were pretty easy to do and didn't take much time. I really love the final outcome! They look really cool in the dark too! I'd really like to try them out again in different colors and designs.

Cupcake Stamped Gradient

Hello! Today I noticed two polishes I haven't gotten around to using so I decided to give them a try. The polishes were a baby blue and a light pink that just looked pretty next to each other.
I started out by doing a water marble with them. I did the marble on two nails but the blue was way too sheer and wasn't what I was going for. I liked the marbled nails even though I could see the white base underneath so I just kept them as accent nails. I moved on to doing a gradient on the rest of my nails. I really liked how both the colors blended together!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Cupcake Stamped Gradient Nails

After looking at them for a bit I felt they needed something more so I stamped on some cute cupcakes with white polish. Once I was done I loved them! I know they're simple and not too creative but sometimes I just like to pick out some polishes and do whatever comes to mind. It doesn't always turn out cute but luckily these nails did :)
I hope you enjoyed this random post and thanks for stopping by!!

Finger Paints: Poolside Paradise Water Marble and Gradient

Hello! A few days ago I bought some new polishes and decided to do some nail art with them! I saw the Finger Paints Poolside Paradise collection at Sally Beauty Supply and loved all six of the shimmery polishes! So naturally, I bought the whole set! I couldn't help it!!! They're bright without being neon and the shimmer is just gorgeous! How could I just leave them there?!

Sabrina's Nail Blog Finger Paints Poolside Paradise Collection water marble gradient

The first thing I wanted to do with them was a water marble. Luckily they worked good in the water. I used all six colors to marble on three nails and did a sponge gradient on the other two nails. For the gradient I used three of the six colors for each nail.

I really love these polishes! the colors are just so beautiful! I can't wait do do more nail art with them or just wear them alone. If you happen to see this collection and love shimmer then I'd really recommend it!!

Finger Paints: Enchanted Mermaid Collection Review and Nail Look

Hello! Today I have a review and a nail look to share with you!
While at Sally's Beauty Supply yesterday a new Finger Paints display caught my eye. It was for a small 4 polish collection called Enchanted Mermaid. All 4 colors were pretty but I was about to pass them up until I read that they were textured! I still really love textured polish so grabbed the 2 that I liked the most and was on my way!

The first color that caught my eye was Sea Temptress, an opalescent white. The second color was Tails of Love which is a metallic-y teal. I couldn't wait to try them out and was surprised when I saw that the texture wasn't the usual texture that I've come to expect. Instead of little grains of sand the texture in these polishes are little hexagonal pieces. It's different and a bit rougher than a sandy texture but I really don't mind it.

I like that it's something new and it really goes with the mermaid theme (they look and  feel ocean-y if that makes sense). I really love both colors and only used 2 coats of each. As most textured polishes do, these dried pretty fast. I also noticed that the colors didn't get dull as they dried, they still have a bit of a shine to them. They were easy to apply too. Overall I'd say they're great. If you're not tired of textured polishes yet or want to try out a new texture then the Enchanted Mermaid collection might be something you'd like to check out.

While I was painting my nails I wanted to try on both colors so I painted two accent nails of Sea Temptress and they really reminded me of pearls next to the teal nails. Then I got the idea to see if I had an ocean themed stamping plate. Once I found one with little shells and starfishes, I used a white polish to stamp over the teal nails and left the pearly nails alone. The stamping was just something quick and fun to try out and I really ended up liking it! :)
